Sunday Wash
It’s such a busy, busy week,
And so I try to plan
To have some time Sunday for ourselves
If there’s any way we can.
I hurry evenings to wash and clean
So that when Sunday comes,
If for some hour we feel free,
There could be time for fun.
Sunday morning is a rush,
Four children to get dressed.
The time they spend in Sunday School,
I spend cleaning up the mess.
Then I find for tomorrow we all need clothes
You’d think could wait past Monday,
And, no matter how I try to plan,
I end up washing on Sunday.
Away from home for a job five days,
Ending Friday what started Monday.
When comes the day I quit this job,
I’ll never wash on Sunday.
