End of Shift
There are six extra inches of space in the hall;
You can get your coat on if you’re first with no pushing at all.
If you time it just right and make yourself thin,
You can get to the time clock with one arm in.
But, if someone’s elbow should give you a clout,
You may find yourself outside with one arm out.
To get out of the parking lot, you soon learn
You get to your car quickly or just wait your turn.
When all of these thoughts on your mind are impressed,
You give up and go outside half-dressed.
