Youth
I bade my youth a sad farewell
When I was twenty-one;
There had been many wintry days,
Doubting power of the sun.
Though it seemed life had passed me by,
The young around brought joys;
In spite of transient thoughts of gloom,
There was laughter of girls and boys
I found through trials, I wasn’t in charge,
God’s love light started to show,
And, so it was at thirty-nine,
I bid youth a glad “Hello.”
