Waiting
Mr. Rogers blazed the way for me;
I seldom face frustration.
His “Something To Do While You’re Waiting” song
Often saved me aggravation.
So I pick an activity
To do ‘til the time is right.
I’m blessed to have some task all done;
No impatience skews my sight.
The one for whom I’m waiting, though,
Responds to this, “Oh, no!”
For I may not have finished it
When he says that it’s time to go.
I blithely reassure him, “Dear,
I know we won’t be late,
And so, until I finish this,
Find something to do while you wait.”
