Our Older Home
While we dream, your sheltering walls
Keep us safe whate’er befalls.
While we struggle and we plan
We’re kept dry by your roof ’s broad span.
We hope to make you something more,
New ceilings, carpet, better floors.
And someday when good fortune calls,
We’ll put something better on your walls.
While things are scattered in disgrace,
We’re planning for more storage space.
To make improvements, we ponder how,
But, to me, you’re home right now.
