Late Blessing
My perspective’s changed a little;
Food doesn’t taste just right.
I feel puffy where I’m not used to
And having tender dreams at night.
I guess I just can’t let it go;
The good doctor’s standing by
To fill me in on the good news:
A new baby’s coming by.
My kids are grown; my, what a change!
Surprised that this could be.
Friends smile at me and shake their heads,
Saying, “Better you than me.”
I begin to anticipate
The darling little face.
And love increases with my size,
As God pours out His grace.
We don’t know, a boy or girl?
What gift God has in store,
But the nursery and arms are ready
To be blessed with a baby once more.
