Fickle Autumn Wind
Yesterday a balmy breeze,
Pleasant and mellow in fall,
Flitted and played among the leaves;
Last night she took them all.
A friendly, warm companion,
Innocent among beauty bright,
She destroyed it with a vengeance,
Shrieking in the night.
Today, among stark branches,
She plays her pleasant air,
Ignoring nonchalantly
What’s no longer there.
